Classmates Attending

50 Years! I wouldn't miss it. I look forward to seeing everybody. The only Class Reunions I ever attended were the 10th, and the 45th. If my Guidance Counselor had said that I should be a College Research Professor I would have thought they were crazy. Funny things happen in your career.

I have no Facebook page, so here is my Bio: I married Kathy Johnson from Minneapolis, MN, in 1977. We've been married over 40 years, no children. In High School, I was the Cashier at the lunchroom and sort of a technical geek. Not a popular student, I played no sports and worked after school at the Stockdales Supermarket. Shortly after graduation I joined the US Air Force for 4 years, I was an Electronics Technician in secure communications. Due to a military accident my hearing was severely damaged. I have been a Disabled Viet Nam era Veteran ever since. That incident did not stop me. I then attended The Ohio State University and earned a Degree in Electrical Engineering. In 1979, I moved to the Dallas, Texas, area and worked for Texas Instruments. My career has been in the field of Research and Development. Notable career highlights: Developed Radar Guidance system for the US Navy Cruise Missile program, Developed the barcode readers for the US Postal Service (that barcode under the address of your mail), Granted 10 US Patents and over 40 International Patents for HDTV and Digital Cinema. The US Patent I am most proud of is entitled “Digital Television System”, the first all-digital television. In 2003 the Digital Cinema program I worked in received an Emmy Award from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for Outstanding Achievement in Engineering Development. This Emmy was for the Digital Cinema projectors that are now used at all Movie Theaters today. Over the years I have been a Chief Engineer at three different companies, a Research Professor at the University of Arkansas, and a Registered Professional Engineer. My love for Electronics began in the Halls of Marysville High School when I won the Science Fair in the 11th grade for my project “Closed Circuit Television System”. One may see the similarity between this Science Fair project title and the title of my one US Patent. My wife and I both retired in 2015 and we still live in Texas. I still do Consultant work on the side. Almost every year we have come home to Marysville to see family and friends.
